Nintendo 3DS เป็นเครื่องเล่นเกมส์พกพาที่สามารถแสดงผลด้วยลูกเล่น 3D โดยใช้เทคโนโลยี Autosteroscopy ซึ่งทำให้ผู้ใช้สามารถเล่นเกมส์ 3D ได้โดยไม่ต้องสวมแว่นตา แถมภายในเครื่องยังมี Motion Sensor (Accelerometer และ Gyroscope) ที่ใช้ควบคุมเกมส์ผ่านเซ็นเซอร์ตรวจจับความเคลื่อนไหวของเครื่่องเล่นฯได้อีกด้วย ทั้งนี้ทางบริษัทได้เปิดเผยถึงผลิตภัณฑ์เครื่องเล่นเกมส์ Nintendo 3DS ไปแล้วเมื่อวันที่ 23 มีนาคม 2010 และนำออกมาโชว์ให้ได้เห็นหน้าค่าตาของมันเมื่อวันที่ 15 มิถุนายน ในงาน E3 2010 อย่างไรก็ดี Nintendo 3DS สามารถใช้งานร่วมกับซอฟต์แวร์เกมส์ที่เล่นบนเครื่องเล่นรุ่นก่อนหน้านี้อย่าง Nintendo DS และ Nintendo DSi

รายงานล่าสุดยังมีการเปิดเผยออกมาอีกด้วยว่า Nintendo ได้พัฒนาเกมส์สำหรับ Nintendo 3DS โดยเฉพาะไว้มากถึง 30 เกมส์แล้ว อย่างเช่น Nintendogs & Cats, Steel Driver, Pilotwings Resort และ Super Street Fighter IV 3D นอกจากนี้ยังมีเกมส์ยอดฮิตที่ถูกนำมาเป็น 3DS อย่างเช่น Paper Mario, Mario Kart ส่วน The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ยังอยู่ในระหว่างการพัฒนา ตามรายงานข่าว Nintendo 3DS จะเริ่มวางจำหน่ายในประเทศญ๊่ปุ่นวันที่ 26 กุมภาพันธ์ และในสหรัฐ 27 มีนาคม ศกนี้
